Rodents: Destructive & Dangerous Pests

Rodents such as mice and rats are extremely destructive and dangerous pests. They gnaw through your structure causing damage to walls, foundations, and electrical systems, which can lead to energy loss and fires.

Rodents consume your food. They also contaminate your food and living surfaces by leaving saliva, urine, feces, and tracked-in contaminants of all types all over your premises. They are also known to bite human victims. Additionally, rodents serve as reservoirs and host vectors for many human diseases. Some of the dozens of diseases that are commonly spread by rodents include:

  • Anaplasmosis
  • Encephalitis
  • Hanta Virus
  • Hemorrhagic Fever
  • Leptospirosis
  • Plague
  • Powassan Virus
  • Rat-Bite Fever
  • Salmonellosis
  • Typhus

Do not risk your health or the health of those you care about. Contact Brown Exterminating as soon as you notice any signs of rodent infestation. We will eliminate your problem promptly and keep the rodents away from you.

Signs of Mice or Rat Infestation

You do not have to see a rat or mice to know that you have an infestation. There are a few signs that clearly indicate that your structure has been breached:

  • Characteristic Rodent Odor (A Distinctive Musky Scent)
  • Chew Marks
  • Mouse or Rat Nests (Finely Shredded Material in a Sheltered Location)
  • Squeaking or Scratching Sounds Coming From Walls and Ceilings
  • Tracks
  • Urine & Droppings

By the time you see or hear a rodent or signs of its presence, it is likely that you already have an infestation of at least several dozen individuals. Each female rat can produce approximately 72 offspring per year and the offspring can reproduce at three months. Each female mouse is capable of birthing approximately 60 additional mice that can reproduce at three weeks of age. Very quickly, your home will be completely overrun by rodents.

Rodent Elimination & Extermination

Effective rodent elimination and extermination involves three main components:

  • Exterminate all Living Rodents
  • Eliminate and Seal All Potential Points of Entry
  • Sanitize and Repair Damaged Areas

Brown Exterminating will assist you with your rodent extermination needs and will identify potentially vulnerable areas where rodents are likely to attempt re-infestation. It is critically important to seal off all holes and gaps where mice and rats can gain entry. A rat can enter a hole approximately 1/2” in diameter and a mouse can squeeze in through a 1/4” gap.
