Cockroaches Pose Dangers to Human Health

The cockroach is one of the world’s most persistent and pervasive pests. It is also one of the most feared pests –for good reason. Cockroaches are more than annoying nuisance pests. Cockroaches pose dangers to human health. They spread illnesses, harmful pathogens, and parasites. In addition, many people suffer from severe allergies in the presence of cockroaches.

Cockroach Habitat

Cockroaches are one of the world’s most widespread pests and can be found virtually anywhere. However, their favorite habitats include warm, humid environments or locations where people congregate to eat, and inadvertently drop, food:

  • Bathrooms
  • Bedrooms
  • Kitchens
  • Living Rooms
  • Restaurants

Cockroaches prefer to live inside of tiny crevices that are located within close proximity to a reliable source of food and water. A cockroach spends most of its time hiding in these crevices, with the exception of actively breeding females. Crevices as small as 1/32” can harbor roaches. Consequently, the home or business owner may miss the presence of cockroaches until the infestation has become quite large.

Where Roaches Come From

Roaches come from various sources. Typically, they are introduced to the interior of a building by hitching a ride on packaging materials such as boxes, bags, and drink cartons. Used appliances and furniture are another major source of cockroach transmission. Secondhand refrigerators, microwaves, and televisions are frequently infested with roaches.

You may have a good idea where the cockroaches originated, but may not be able to determine precisely where they came from. Regardless, they must be eliminated promptly to prevent disease.

Cockroach Extermination Treatment

Cockroaches are expert survivalists and they are notoriously difficult to exterminate completely and effectively by amateurs. Don’t waste your precious time and money in a vain attempt to eliminate cockroaches from your premises.

Standard cockroach extermination protocol specifies that a minimum of 95% of cockroaches must be eliminated from the structure during the initial treatment. Following the first extermination, an effective maintenance program with follow-up visits is also required to eliminate the small percentage of remaining cockroaches. If any roaches remain, the extermination procedure will fail.

If you have witnessed cockroaches or signs of cockroaches in your home or business, contact Brown Exterminating immediately. If you are certain that your structure is infested, we will schedule your extermination promptly. If you are not sure whether or not you have a cockroach infestation, let us come to your location and complete your free basic cockroach inspection. Protect your health.
